Technique Tuesday: Steeks

About This Class

Level: Intermediate—should be comfortable knitting in the round, stranded colorwork, and chart reading. Ages: 16+ We provide: Two hours of expert guidance on using needle felting to prepare, cut and finish a steek. You Bring: (Participants receive 10% off supplies purchased at Notion) - A copy of the "Steek This Coffee Cozy" pattern by Rachel Molenaar (available at Notion or on Ravelry.com) - a pre-knit colorwork tube you will steek during class - sample uses small amounts of 5 colors of non-machine washable treated yarn—see pattern for weights and yardage - U.S. size 5 DPNs - scissors - darning needle - 3 buttons - needle felting needles/tool Total instruction time: 2 hours over 1 session Explore the magic of steeking, which allows you to knit projects in the round then cut them (turning pullovers into cardigans, for example). Join Barbarina to learn how to needle felt your sample, cut it with confidence, then finish it using techniques you can easily apply to future projects! Limited to 4 students. Requires 3 to run. Notion operates on Western Abenaki land.
