Visible mending, inspired by the Japanese art of sashiko, is a practical and beautiful way to reinvent your clothes and make your wardrobe more sustainable. Rina will teach you how to use thoughtfully placed patches and stitches to repair small rips and tears. You will leave with a sturdily mended item and an understanding of how to approach a wide variety of mending projects.
Please bring a garment or other fabric item with small rip(s) or tear(s) in need of repair. Please, no technical (athletic/outdoor) fabrics, as these require different mending techniques. We will provide scrap fabric for patching, needle, and thread for you to use in the class. Scrap fabric color and fiber content can’t be guaranteed, so if you have specific preferences, you’re invited to use your 10% class supply discount to choose your own fabric.
Limited to 6 participants. Requires 3 participants to run. In the event of cancellation due to low enrollment, registered participants will receive notice and a refund 3 days prior to the scheduled start date of the series.
Please note our sewing studio space is on the second floor with no elevator access. We sincerely apologize for any difficulty this creates. Don't hesitate to contact us with questions at hello@notionvt.com.
COVID-19 safety statement: This class will take place indoors with as much physical distancing as is feasible to provide quality hands-on instruction.
