Sew a Collared Shirt with Eliza West (Three Sessions)

IMPORTANT NOTE: This class meets in three sessions, from 6:00-9:00 PM on September 7, 14, and 21. Registration from this page covers all three sessions.

Ages: 16+

Level: Intermediate. You must be confident using a sewing machine and sewing garments from patterns.

We provide: Expert instruction and use of a sewing machine and basic tool kit.

You bring: Already-cut fabric in your size for View A of the Grainline Archer button-front shirt pattern (print copies available in the store; see below for plus size and menswear pattern alternatives), plus notions as specified by the pattern. See the pattern envelope or ask a Notion staff member for fabric recommendations. Registered participants receive 10% off class supplies purchased at Notion.

Get ready to start building the wardrobe of your dreams! A classic collared button-front shirt is a staple garment that every sewist should have in their arsenal. Eliza is an expert garment sewist who will walk you slowly and carefully through the construction techniques involved in building a well-finished collar and cuffs. The classic Archer Button-Up pattern from Grainline Studio is the perfect canvas to sew and wear through any season; the menswear Fairfield Button-Up or plus sized Cashmerette Harrison Shirt may also be used.

Please come to class with your fabric already cut out. We will be sewing View A of the pattern. If you are not confident about preparing the pattern and cutting out the fabric at home, our Sew Clothes With Confidence virtual class (will be offered in-person in spring 2022) may be the best fit for you.

Limited to 6 participants. Requires 3 participants to run. In the event of cancellation due to low enrollment, registered participants will receive notice and a refund 3 days prior to the scheduled start date of the series.

I agree to exercise appropriate care when participating and to refrain from participating if I am taking medication or am under the influence of any substances with any tendency to affect negatively my motor skills or level of care and attention. I release from all claims, demands, liability, right or causes of action of whatsoever kind and waive my right to sue Notion LLC, their employees, officers, members, and agents from any and all claims in any way connected with any injury, illness (including death), or economic loss I may suffer or which may result from my participation in this class/event. If registering on behalf of a minor child, I acknowledge that I am their parent or legal guardian and agree to their participation and to the above liability waiver on their behalf.
