Darning & Mending Workshop with Anne Fernweh

Level: Easy - No experience with darning or mending is required, though you may have an easier time if you have used a needle and thread before.

Ages: 16+

We provide:  Expert instruction; scrap fabric, yarn, needle, and thread.

You bring: A garment or other sewn or knitted item with small rips or tears in need of repair. Please, no technical (athletic/outdoor) fabrics. You are also welcome to bring patch fabric or yarn if you prefer a specific color. Please don't hesitate to contact hello@notionvt.com with questions about supplies.

Mending or darning (mending knitted items) is a practical and beautiful way to reinvent your clothes and make your wardrobe more sustainable. It’s a wonderful way to breathe new life into your clothes as we prepare for cooler weather. Anne will teach you how to use simple tools to create a mend on any garment that is as beautiful as it is functional. You will leave with a sturdily mended item and an understanding of how to approach a wide variety of repair projects.

Please bring a garment or other sewn or knitted item with small rip(s) or tear(s) in need of repair. Please, no technical (athletic/outdoor) fabrics, as these require different mending techniques. If you want to learn darning but don’t have an item that needs repair, you can knit a swatch and cut a hole in it. You'll have an opportunity to practice a variety of techniques, regardless of thee sample project you bring. We will provide supplies for you to use in the class (needle, thread, mending patches, and wool darning thread). Color and fiber content can’t be guaranteed, so if you have specific preferences, you’re invited to use your 10% class supply discount to choose your own fabric and/or yarn.

Limited to 6 participants. Requires 3 participants to run. In the event of cancellation due to low enrollment, registered participants will receive notice and a refund 3 days prior to the scheduled start date of the series.

I agree to exercise appropriate care when participating and to refrain from participating if I am taking medication or am under the influence of any substances with any tendency to affect negatively my motor skills or level of care and attention. I release from all claims, demands, liability, right or causes of action of whatsoever kind and waive my right to sue Notion LLC, their employees, officers, members, and agents from any and all claims in any way connected with any injury, illness (including death), or economic loss I may suffer or which may result from my participation in this class/event. If registering on behalf of a minor child, I acknowledge that I am their parent or legal guardian and agree to their participation and to the above liability waiver on their behalf.
