NOTE: This class meets in four sessions, from 6:00-9:00 PM on March 28 and April 4, 11, & 18. Registration from this page covers all four sessions.
Level: Advanced beginner/intermediate. You should be comfortable using a sewing machine and sewing garments using patterns.
We provide: Expert instruction and use of a sewing machine and basic tool kit.
You bring: A copy of the Christine Haynes Emery Dress pattern and already-cut fabric pieces for the dress in your size (print copies available in the store), plus notions as specified by the pattern. See the pattern envelope or ask Notion staff for fabric recommendations. Registered participants receive 10% off class supplies purchased at Notion.
Total instruction time: 12 hours over 4 sessions
Are you ready to up your garment sewing game? In this class, we will go in-depth on a single project that includes such essential dressmaking techniques as sewing darts, linings, zippers, and set-in sleeves. The Christine Haynes Emery Dress is the perfect backdrop for growing your skills. This vintage-inspired knee-length dress features a lined bodice, zipper closure, and a series of bodice darts for the perfect fit.
Please come to class with your fabric pieces already cut out. This is a construction technique class only. Bring a muslin to Eliza's pattern fitting clinic on March 26th to learn how to alter your Emery Dress to fit your unique shape. If you are not confident about preparing the pattern and cutting out the pieces at home, our Sew Clothes With Confidence class may be the best fit for you.
Limited to 6 participants. Requires 3 participants to run. In the event of cancellation due to low enrollment, registered participants will receive notice and a refund 3 days prior to the scheduled start date of the series.
